Black Ceiling adds layers of grime and fuzz to the late 70s synthesizer revival and fills the gaps with ketamine. Oppressive, depressing and claustrophobic with twinkling melodies guaranteed to break your heart. Best track is WVFFLIFE, but LIKE YOU is a strong contender for joint first place. A couple of weaker tracks could have been left off to make this an even stronger album - IN MY HEAD & BENEATH HER SPELL fall the wrong side of cheesey and really let the rest of the tracks down. I don't think the term 'witch house' stretched far at first, but it has expanded to encompass a wide variety of atmospheres and tempos such to the point it has become generic and non-descriptive. These artists exemplify the kinds of innovative and unique styles that continue to evolve and milestone the "scene", wherever or whatever that scene may be. Call it whatever you want, it's amazing.
